New regulations have been implemented to enhance the safety of Swimming Pools and Spas in Victoria. These regulations pertain to any Swimming Pool or Spa which is capable of holding water 300mm (30 cm), including permanent Pools, Spas, Above Ground Pools, Indoor Pools, Hot Tubs, Bathing or Wading Pools and some relocatable Pools.
Notably, relocatable Pools that are comprised of a single piece and do not require assembly are excluded from the barrier requirements. For instance, a small inflatable pool that simply needs to be inflated falls into this category. Alongside registration, Pool and Spa Owners must acquire and file compliance certifications for their safety barriers. More information can be found under Safety Barrier Regulations.
